New album from Veronica Mortensen. Pop with a twist of jazz.
Talk about learning at one's mother's knee! Singer and composer Veronica Mortensen is the daughter of singers Titika and Allan Mortensen, who both participated in the original Danish production of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar back in the early '70s. As a child, Veronica often ran around backstage when the young, hopeful parents could not get a babysitter.

Her soulful, rich and expressive voice indicates that she has been listening to black icons such as Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin and Erykah Badu, but there is no trace of affected mannerisms and exaggerated sentimentality. On the contrary, she has a clear, expressive voice in an age where singing technique often stands in the way of emotional content.

Veronica Mortensen has composed all the music herself, with inspiration from the Nordic song tradition, jazz and classic soul music, with main emphasis on catchy melodies.
